Family Leisure Paddle & Shore Lunch & Moose FM No Kayak

On Sunday August 26th, departing  from the Mattagami River Beach area located south west of the Mattagami River Bridge.

Participants will paddle upstream 5 km on the Mountjoy River, past Miller Lake to an area that has been set aside for a traditional shore lunch consisting of pickerel, beans, home fries, wild berry tea and bottled water

The Leisure Family Paddle and Shore Lunch will provide participants with a great introduction to the sport of kayaking and allows for a great networking opportunity.


Registration to this event will be restricted to 30 paddlers. Registration cost is set at $30 to included a guided trip complete with shore lunch. Participants must provide their own kayak, and all required safety gear.

All participants will be required to complete and sign a waiver in person on the day of the event.

Moose FM “No Kayak”

To help kick off the 10th Annual Great Canadian Kayak Challenge and Festival we’re hosting the Moose FM “No Kayak” Grand Prix on Friday August 24th.

Simply build a vessel that can hold 3 people and race on the Mattagami River from just before the bend, under the bridge and back. There will be prizes for the fastest time and “best dressed”.

Return the completed registration form to Moose FM at 49 Cedar Street South no later than 4pm on Monday August 20th.

Sign in will begin at 6pm with the 1st race beginning at 6:45pm on Friday August 24th at Participark.

It’s all in the spirit of having fun. So be silly, crazy and zaney with your designs and we’ll see you on the water.
