The show presents the music of CCR with a storyline that incorporates all the CREEDENCE hits and includes several costume changes.

Chain gang prison uniforms right out of the song MIDNIGHT SPECIAL, those plaid flannel shirts made famous by Creedence in the 60′s and you gotta see the boys dressed in army fatigues depicting the era of John Fogerty’s Vietnam protest songs!!

These boys have entertained thousands in the past few years and they are a favourite with First Nations, Casinos and Festivals, always delivering first class entertainment.

For an exciting show full of nostalgia, sing-a-longs and a down right good old time, you’ve got it all with the GREEN RIVER REVIVAL!!!

Green River Revival will perform from 10:30 pm to 12:00 am on Saturday, August 25, 2012. Visit the Green River Revival website.

Great Canadian Kayak Challenge & Festival Recognized by Festivals & Events Ontario

Timmins, ON Festivals & Events Ontario announced that the Great Canadian Kayak Challenge & Festival has earned the distinction of being named one of the Top 100 festivals in the province of Ontario. Included in the Top 100 list are festivals and events that excel within the industry. Included in the Top 100 are the festivals and events of distinction, a select group which represents some of the most well known and respected celebrations in the province; celebrations which draw both an international and domestic audience.

“To be recognized by your peers is rewarding to say the least. The success of the Great Canadian Kayak Challenge & Festival is due in large part to a number of factors. The community support that this festival has received over its short 3 year existence and the investments put forward by the many corporate sponsors and government partners year after year has greatly influenced the overall scope of this end of summer festival. The many man hours invested by volunteers and dedicated members of the event Steering Committee cannot be overlooked. Without all of the above ingredients, the Great Canadian Kayak Challenge & Festival would not have been included in the elite list of 2012 Top 100 Festivals & Events in Ontario”, added Jack Watson & Guy Lamarche, Event Co-chairs.

Submissions from Festivals and Events Ontario members were received for consideration in the fall of 2011 and were judged by an independent panel of judges. The 2012 Top 100 Awards were given out Saturday, March 3 during FEO’S Annual Conference Beyond Borders in Niagara Falls.

“This distinction should go a long way at positioning this festival as a marquee and “best in class” tourism signature event for the City of Timmins. This distinction should serve the city well as it continues to find ways to grow its market share of tourism receipts. Already, the Great Canadian Kayak Challenge & Festival has seen paddlers from the USA, Europe, Canada, and Ontario. The Top 100 Festival label should create additional interest for an already popular event”, concluded Mayor Tom Laughren.

The 3rd Annual Great Canadian Kayak Challenge & Festival is now behind us and by all accounts, the weekend was a great success for everyone involved. Thousands of people came out to enjoy a fun filled weekend of water based competitions, art, culture, children activities and live entertainment. The weather was extremely cooperative and made the weekend festival an enjoyable experience for all who attended.

On behalf of the Steering Committee, we want to extend a heartfelt thanks to the many generous event sponsors, donors, and volunteers. Without their unselfish contributions there would be no festival. We also want to thank the participants both on and off the water, and the public at large for coming out and encouraging both the paddlers and the vendors.

We also extend a “special” thank you to the media, print, radio, broadcast and online for assisting us with the task of building our Great Canadian Kayak Challenge & Festival brand and helping us create “top of mind” awareness of this end of summer festival. Your support has gone a long way at ensuring the event’s success and we truly appreciate it.

The Steering Committee will be meeting shortly to de-brief this year’s festival and to start planning the 4th Annual Great Canadian Kayak Challenge & Festival. It is our hope that we can continue enhancing the festival by incorporating new and exciting activities while maintaining our unofficial reputation of being North America’s ” best in class” paddling festival.

Sincerely,

Guy Lamarche
