Kayak Challenge
The Great Canadian Kayak Challenge place on August 28, 2010 at the Mountjoy Historical Conservation Park also known as the Mountjoy Participark (Overview course map).

The event consists of the following divisions:
The Elite Challenge
- Open to all age groups
- Entry Fee: $110
- Top prize: 1st place cash prize of up to $1,500 for both male and female categories.
- Estimated duration: 3-4 hours.
- Boat restrictions: 10.65:1 ratio
At 35 km in length, the Elite Challenge is the most physically demanding course in the Great Canadian Kayak Challenge. This challenge requires participants to paddle both the Mattagami and Mountjoy Rivers and incorporates two 150 metre portages. Kayak carts may be used but will not be supplied. The Elite Recreational Challenge
- Open to all ages
- Entry fee: $75.00
- Top prize: 1st place cash prize of up to $750.00 for both male and female categories.
- Estimated duration: 2 hours or less
- Boat restrictions: 10.65:1 ratio.
The Elite Recreational Challenge will take place on the Mattagami River. This course is 16 km in length with no portages. (View map)
The Recreational Challenge
- Open to all age groups
- Entry fee: $60.00
- Top prize: 1st place cash prize of up to $500.00 for both male and female categories.
- Estimated duration: 2 - 3 hours.
- Boat restrictions: 14'2" and under
The Recreational Challenge will take place on the Mattagami River. This course is 16 km in length with no portages. (View map)
The Open Challenge
- Open to all age groups
- Entry fee: $30.00
- Top prize: 1st place cash prize of up to $250.00 for both male and female categories
- Estimated duration: 45 minutes to 1 hour
- Boat restriction: 10.65:1 ratio
At 6.5 km in length, the Open Challenge, takes place on the Mattagami River only. There will be no portages in this division. You may enter the Open Challenge even if you have participated in other divisions. (View map)
The Novice Challenge
- Open to all age groups.
- Entry fee: $30.00
- Top prize: 1st place cash prize of up to $250.00 for both male and female categories.
- Estimated duration: 1 - 2 hours.
- Boat restrictions: 14'2" and under.
At 6.5 km in length, the Novice Challenge, which takes place on the Mattagami River only, is perfect for those who kayak casually or are new to the sport. There will be no portages in this division. (View map)
The Seniors (Masters) Recreational Challenge
- Age 55 +
- Entry fee: $30.00
- Top prize: 1st place cash prize of up to $200.00 for both male and female categories.
- Estimated duration: 1 - 2 hours.
- Boat restrictions: 14'2" and under.

The Seniors (Masters) Elite Challenge
- Age 55 +
- Entry fee: $30.00

- Ages 14 and under.
- Entry fee: $20.00
- Top prize: 1st place cash prize of up to $200.00 for both male and female categories.
- Estimated duration: 1-2 hours.
- Boat restrictions: 14"2' and under.

The Celebrity Challenge
- Open to all age groups
- By invitation only, no entry fee
- Top Prize - NOHFC Trophy and 1 Year's worth of bragging rights

- Boat Restriction: 14'2" and under
